Building resilient, self-reliant communities in Kenya.

Mtukufu Simba Foundation is a community-based non-governmental organization committed to building resilient and self-reliant communities in Kenya.

We work at the grassroots level to tackle hunger, improve access to clean water and sanitation, and unlock the potential of youth and women who are the backbone of our society.

Founded on the belief that no one should go hungry and no one should be left behind.

Our mission

To achieve food security, ensure access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and empower youth and women for sustainable livelihoods and dignified lives.

Our vision

A Kenya where every household is food secure, every community has access to safe water and sanitation, and every youth and woman is empowered to thrive.

Three pillars, one goal: dignified lives.

Our programmes meet communities where they are: on the farm, at the water point, in the classroom and in the marketplace.

A

Food Security

Helping households grow, store and access nutritious food, in good seasons and in hard ones.

  • Training farmers on climate-smart agriculture
  • Kitchen gardens and sack gardens for households
  • Seed distribution and food relief in emergencies
  • Post-harvest storage training
  • Feeding less fortunate and vulnerable families
B

WASH Water, Sanitation & Hygiene

Safe water, dignified sanitation and healthy hygiene habits for homes and schools.

  • Boreholes and water pan construction
  • Hygiene and sanitation awareness in schools
  • Distribution of water filters and sanitary kits
  • Construction of clean toilets
C

Youth & Women Empowerment

Skills, savings and start-up support so youth and women can build sustainable livelihoods.

  • Skills training: tailoring, agribusiness, digital skills
  • Village savings and loan associations (VSLA)
  • Mentorship and leadership for girls
  • Small grants for youth and women startups

The principles that guide every step we take.

  1. 01

    Integrity

We are honest and transparent in how we work and how we use every resource entrusted to us.

  2. 02

    Community

Communities are at the centre. We listen first and build solutions alongside them.

  3. 03

    Sustainability

We invest in skills, systems and infrastructure that keep working long after a project ends.

  4. 04

    Equity

We put those most often left behind first, so every household, youth and woman can thrive.

  5. 05

    Accountability

We answer to the communities, donors and partners who place their trust in us.

Let’s create lasting change, together.

Whether you are a community leader, a donor or a government partner, we would love to hear from you.
